Background & Objectives: The nurse educators play a significant role in the development of graduate students and have the responsibility for providing strong professional attitude in their students as well as future nurses. Although professional investigation of attitude nurse educators can be one of the most important issues in nursing education, there has been little study conducted on professionalism among nurse educators in Iran. This study aimed to investigate professional attitudes of nursing in medical science universities. Materials & Methods: A descriptive design was used to describe five subscales of professionalism among nursing educators. 270 out of 400 instrument pockets which had been sent to different types of universities were analyzed. They were measured by Hal-questionnaire in five dimensions: "use of professional organizations"belief in public service"sense of calling to the field", "self regulation" and "autonomy". Results: Findings showed that nursing faculty members have a medium level of professional attitudes. They had the highest scores for "belief in public service " and "sense of calling to the field" and lower scores for "self regulation" and "autonomy". Conclusion: Although this situation is not undesirable, there is a gap between our professional attitudes and idealistic professionalism. Since nurse leaders and nurse educators must collaborate with together to enhance the professionalism of nursing, it is better to start this attitude from universities and educators as the role models for nursing students.
