Effect of different levels of Nitrogen and Potassium on yield and morphological characteristics of forage Corn under saline condition (Zea mays L.)

A field study was conducted at Islamic Azad University Research farm of Saveh Branch in 2005 to find out the effects of different levels of Nitrogen and Potassium on forage yield of maize {Zea mays L.). A completly Randomized block design experiment was carried out with four replications that consisted of 5 levels. Results indicated that different levels of fertilizers had significant effect on forage yield consisted of wet leaf weight, wet stem weight and wet ear weight. Maximum forage yield (63172.51 Kg/ha) was obtained in N300K100 level. However, there was no significant effect on wet tassel weight, tassel length and number of tassel branches. It was concluded that treatment of N300K100 could increase yield and yield components of maize and also applying Nitrogen without Potassium decreased the yield and yield components of maize.
