Examining the Status and personality trait of women in Garshasbnameh

Although Garshasbnameh Asadi Tusi is an epic book that warrior men constitute the main characters, the prominent presence of women in it should not be overlooked. The present study is an attempt to identify these women and their roles in forming certain events in the society and to examine such issues while focusing on Garshasbnameh. The first part examines the female characters of Garshasbnameh and the second part gives an account of the issues related to women, marriage, and family. The expected result of this study is to resolve and dispel any doubts concerning the minor role of women in the society of Iran at that time. One of the major issues of concern is that Grshasbnameh is an epic book which is a showcase of wars and heroism. Hence, the high frequency of womenʹs issues in the book reveals the dynamic community of women in that era.
