Investigation the effect of conductive polypyrrole coating on corrosion behaviour of brass in neutral choloride environment.

In this study, the use of polypyrrole (PPy) electrosynthesized coating has been investigated for protection against the corrosion of brass in neutral choloride environment. PPy film was synthesized on brass from pyrrole containing aqueous oxalic acid solution, by using cyclic voltammetry technique. The synthesized film are found to be adherent and homogeneous and corrosion resistance. The corrosion behaviour of PPy coated samples was investigated in 3.5% Had solution, by using the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization curves and open circuit potential curves. It was shown that the PPy coating could provide important protection against brass corrosion for considerable immersion periods and exhibited effective barrier property against the attack of corrosive environment .The EIS results also showed that the coating exhibited some anodic protection to brass substrate, by Catalyzing the formation of protective oxide layer on the surface. The morphology of PPy coating was studied by usinq a scanninq electron microscope (SEM).
