The Academic and Occupational Status of Regular and Vocational High Schoolsʹ Graduates

In order to determine the status of the graduates from both regular and vocational high schools and compare them in terms of job placement, a questionnaire was administered to a randomly selected sample of graduates in computer, finance, agriculture, and accounting from the vocational high schools and other graduates from regular high schools. The collected data indicate that most vocational graduates have at least average academic standing and their personal interests have been the main reason for their choice of vocational training. Almost half as many vocational graduates is interested in going to university as there are regular graduates while almost as many were employed in both groups (close to 16%). It is suggested that skill based vocational training be improved, curriculum planning for the vocational courses be decentralized, and the expansion of the courses in computer, finance, accounting, and agriculture be more oordinated.
