Evaluation of genetic parameters and crossbreeding effects of economic traits on silkworm pure lines in the crisscrossing system

Variance and covariance components, heritability and genetic correlation of economic traits in hybrids of six lines of silkworm were estimated. In all hybrids, cocoon weight heritability was superior than cocoon shell weight heritability. Percentage of cocoon shell heritability was lower than other traits. There was a high positive genetic correlation between cocoon weight and cocoon shell weight and there was low genetic correlation between cocoon weight and cocoon shell percentage too. Heterosis effect on average cocoon weight and cocoon shell weight was effective and increase in heterosis percentage increased the average of this traits. With increase in recombination percentage in cocoon shell percentage, the mean of this trait increased. The results showed that there was an inverse relationship between heterosis and recombination effects. Also genetic gain and . . mean traits in 151, 152 and their hybrids were higher than others. So, it is expected that the use of these lines is preferable in commercial level.
