A study of the relationship between cell differentiation and SELl promoter expression in transgenic tobacco plant

In the present study, transgenic tobacco plants carrying SFLl promoter were propagated on MS medium. Then, calli were obtained from transgenic and nontransgenic plant leaves. The whole plant was regenerated from callus in the regenerated medium and in each step of regeneration, plant samples were analyzed using GUS staining method for presence or absence of SFL1. The SFLl promoter in metabolically active cells as well as those which were elongating were expressed very well. The results show that it is possible that this gene may have a role in cell division and cell elongation in the plant system
