Evaluation of scientific-proficient competition and investigate the effects of participation in this competition on P.E. teacherʹs job performance

One of the on-job training and motivational methods is P.E. teacherʹs scientific-proficient competitions that are held in three stages annually. These competitions are including scientific, physical fitness and skillʹs tests. The purposes of this study were evaluation of this competition and investigate the effects of participation in this competition on P.E. teacherʹs job performance. The statistical population of this study included all teachers who attended the final stage of 20th national competitions which was held in summer of 2006 (N=805). For this reason, 621 P.E. teachers (ni=197, n2=201& n3=223) from this population selected. Questionnaires were used to collect data for this study. The reliability of these questionnaires previously was estimated using Cronbach coefficient alpha method (.0.9). The data were analyzed via Independent t, One-sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Mann-Whitney U, and Kruskal-Wallis H, one way ANOVA Tests, and Pearson and Spearmanʹs rho correlation (significance level P<0.05). The results showed that there was no significant relationship between participation rate in these competition and P.E. teacherʹs performance (r = 0/099 jp = 0/223). Data analysis indicated that participation in competition according P.E teachers view point affect job variables (x = 3/81±0/68 j z = 4/651 jp = 0/001). In addition that there was significant different between participate motivation in competition P.E teachers and on-job training (t = 6/182 jp = 0/001). According P.E teachers view point comfortable equipment, performance situation, tests internal, result and prize, effectiveness of competitions on the job performance teachers and internal motivation affected on to reparticipation in this competition. The second part of the study for assessment of the practical tests the Reliability of tests by test-retest method shoed a range of 59 to 67 percent for male samples that was not so desirable (p=0/001). However in female samples a range of 62 to 84 percent has been observed that was quiet acceptable (p=0/001). Most of the practical tests with the correlation coefficients between 10 to 53 percent were significant (p=0/001).
