Investigation into Casting Properties of Copper-low Antimony Lead Alloys

In despite of low antimony lead alloy are used in maintenance free lead-acid batteries, because of low over potential and low corrosion rate, but selenium as a grain refiner has some limitation such as environment conservation, cost and low performance. Then nowadays other elements like copper are used, in this paper we study on the role of copper as a substitute component in low antimony lead-selenium alloys. The results shows that although by increasing in copper content the fluidity was decreased, but dross volume and vanishing of alloying elements will be reduced, specially in 0.02-0.04 weight percent range in copper content.
