Preliminary study of Avifauna in Noor plain forest

In order to study the avifauna in a plain forest, this survey was conducted in three parts of Noor Natural Resources Facultyʹs enclosure (c. 157 ha.) just next to the Noor Forest Park in Mazandaran during March 1998 to March 1999 (24 months). On the basis of the observations, 77 species were identified. According to these observations, 60 species were seen at main part and 59 species observed in autumn quarter. In relation to bird numbers, 40 species were observed with one to two individuals, 16 species with 3-10 individuals and the rest of them with over 10 individuals. In addition, 47 birds of nine species were ringed during this research. To sustain such a rich avifauna of this area, we should seriously decide to conserve the Hyrcanian plain forests including Noor plain forests.
