To essert their dominance over others, colonial powers have sought to colonize countries and nations, making use of up-to-date techniques. In the past they used to colonalize countries and plunder their natural and human resourcs through invasion. But, after the awakening of nations, colonial powers followed another way. They extended their power by establishing relations with the so-called independent governments. For a time, this method was most common. Then, due to the increase of nationsʹ awareness and serious injuries which the authorities dependent on colonial powers caused to nations, a widespread resistance started against imperialism and oppression, which was a real challenge to colonial powers.
Accordingly, colonialists felt that they could no longer use this mothod. The rapid spread and wide use of means of communication, the worldʹs turning into a village-like world and the inefficient nationalist governments paved the way for the colonial powers to extend their influence and target the cultural, political and economic fields through the means of communication.
Referring to post-modern imperialism, the wise leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenie, considers that the focus of pos-modern imperialism on the media and on launching cultural onslaught is the imperialistsʹ modern technique. The colonial powersʹ control over the means of communication and over the important news agencies can be confronted by the awakening of the Muslims. The Muslimsʹ awarenss of imperialistsʹ plans and objectives can thwart the imperialists and prevent them from continuing their policy.
