Iranʹs Alliance with the Allies; Strategic or Imposed

Reza Shahʹs policy of neutrality regarding the Second World War until his deposition and consequent exile, and Mohammad Reza Pahlaviʹs unconditional alliance with the allies has often called for different voices of analysis. A number of main political players of the day considered these policies to be strategic and in the national interest, while others rejected both policies, describing the alliance with the Allies as an imposed agreement made under the circumstances of an armed occupation. In this Document Introduction, this issue has been investigated in light of records and evidence.
