Field Performance Investigation on Three Layer Polyethylene Coating Pipeline

Three layer polyethylene coating is a widely used coating in National Iranian Gas Companyʹs (NIGC) main transmission pipeline networks. In many cases there have been failure reports of this coating as detachment or delamination. According to some published reports, some three layer polyethylene coating pipelines in different regions of the world suffer from similar problems, though not as wide as in Iran. In this article, the factors influencing on this failure, are divided into two categories:"Indirect Factors" and "Direct Factors", and the reasons of disbondment and proposed solutions are discussed.
