Tarikh Rashidi is a Persian work pertaining to the 10th/16th century. Its author, Mirza Heydar Dooghlat, is a Turk-Mongol scholar fostered by the Iranian-Islamic culture. Though the work remains somewhat unknown to the Iranians, its Turkish version is quite known by the people and is honored by the scholars of Uzbekistan, Kazaqistan, Turkmenistan, Kirghizstan, and a part of present China, Uighuristan. There are many scientific foundations and some great universities bearing his name, in the aforementioned countries. The original Persian text of the work was published by the Written Heritage Research Center, in 1383 SH, and a large number of its copies were sent to the aforementioned countries. However, for reasons partly discussed in the article, the editor of this significant work fails to accomplish a remarkable textual criticism.
The article offers a critical review of the textual criticism of Tarikh Rashidi. points to its historical, literary and linguistic outstanding details, and finally calls for a new textual criticism.
