Evolution of genetic diversity of some Sesame (sesame indicum L.) genotypes using morphological traits and RAPD molecular Markers

In order to study morphological and molecular genetic diversity, 27 sesame (sesame indicum L.) genotype were investigation. In field experiment, based on RCBD with 3 replication, 23quantitive and qualitative traits were measured. Genetic diversity among the studied genotypes bases on morphological traits using Eucledan distance and ward method. Its results grouped all genotypes in 4 cluster. Results from cluster analysis indicated that some Iranian genotype were grouped in exotic genotypes. Which presumably shows their relation with exotic genotypes. In addition, the results from factor analysis shows six factors could justify the variation in the experiment. In the molecular section, based on previous, 35 Random 10-mer primer RAPD were used to identify the genetic diversity of sesame variety, however, 10 of them showed a high level of polymorphism and producible bands for all genotypes examined. The total scoreable polymorphism and producable bands for all genotypes examined. The total scoreable polymorphism bands were 56.3%. There was no significant correlation (0.22) between morphological and molecular data. These results are significant for future improvements, classification and conservation of Iranian sesame.
