Analysis of the Youthsʹ Social Identity State (Case Study: Kermanshah City)

This article has been written with two descriptive and explanatory goals. Firstly, we have tried to measure social identity construct as a pentagonal construct and to specify the situation of statistical society under study on a defined scale. Secondly, we have aimed at determining the explanation capability of three variables consisting of religion, sex, and socioeconomic situation in a structural model in which social identity is defined as an endogenous variable. The quantitative method is used here on the juvenile statistical society of Kermanshah aged between 18-30 years. The cases under study include 384 individuals being selected based on quota sampling design with regard to the distribution of residence, social status, gender, marital status, education, and religion. The tool used to measure the data is a questionnaire with an accepted content validity and reliability. Results show that the situation of statistical society is in the middle of social identity scale while in career and religious aspects it was below medium, in racial and individual aspects, they were medium, and in family aspect it was above medium. Considering goodness-of- fit index (for example GFI and AGFI) and badness-of-fit index (for example Chi-Square) they verify the collected data, the structural model with exogenous variables sex, religion, and social status to an acceptable degree, although the proportion of unexplained variance indicates that other explanatory variables are needed to add in the structural model.
