The Relationship between Stress Intensity and Life Quality in Hemodialysis Patients Hospitalized in Sari, Iran (2008)

Hemodialysis patients undergo dialysis for survival, and this brings them specific limitations affecting their quality of life. Also, stress from dialysis makes them enjoy a lower quality of life. Therefore, the present study was conducted to determine the relationship between stress intensity and life quality in hemodialysis patients. Methods and Materials: As a descriptive study, this research was conducted on 100 hemodialysis patients in two major dialysis centers in Sari, Iran in 2008. All patients were investigated and relevant data were collected through a questionnaire in three parts (personal characteristics, life quality and stress intensity). Life quality was first investigated and then patientsʹ stress intensity was studies. For data summarization, descriptive statistics were used in SPSS. Results: In this study, 53 men and 47 women participated. Also, 42% of the patients with the almost satisfactory life quality experienced partial stress. Conclusion: The results indicated that the more intense the patientsʹ stress is, the lower their life quality will be.
