Effect of strain path on the recrystallization kinetics of a steel

Low carbon steels are one of the most utilized sorts of alloys in industrial applications so analysis of their behaviour in various heat treatments seems to be necessary. In this research, the static recrystallization kinetics of several specimens of st37 has been studied via altering the strain path from uniaxial to plain strain compression in different strains and strain rates. Also ABAQUS simulation software has been used in order to determine the strain and velocity field hence the similar comparable areas in the examined samples could be detected and investigated. It is observed from the hardness tests and recristallized fracture measurements that the rate and the amount of strain had little effect on the kinetics of recrystallization in the uniaxial compressed specimens while they affected considerably that of side pressed ones due to its natural inhomogeneous deformation aspects.
