The purpose of this study is to investigale the degree of collective identity ( sense of belonging) , commitment or pride to any of ethnic or national identities, and also studying inner significance of these identities which means distinguishing and analyzing intensity and weakness related to these belongings in different aspects of life among students of IAU in Meshkinshahr Branch. The questions consist of: How much is the amount of ethnic and national identity (with its dimensions) among students? Is there a mutual influence between ethnic and national identities and can we categorize the interrelationships and interferences between these two in terms of certain indexes? The study is based on a conducted survey method and correlation. A questionnaire was used for each variable after defining and selecting suitable indexes. Items and questions were made according to Likert Scale .
The results showed that the degree of national identity is 81.3 and ethnic identity is 82.3.Regression Beta showed that the historical dimention of national identity by regression coefficient 0.52 has the most positive effect on ethnic identity. Then the compont of Persain Language and Literature by -0.34 has a negative effect. Other dimensions of national identity were excluded from the analytical model. Ethnic identity has the highest degree of relationship with Turkish Language. The historical dimension of ethnic identity by Beta coefficient 0.407 has the highest and positive impact on ascertaining national identity. Languge by- 0.23 has a negative relationship. National identity has the highest degree of relationship with the historical dimension and the country.
Interaction between the two languages (Persain, Turkish) along with planning as well as policy-making on behalf of university authorities can change this subject from threat to opportunity. Therefore, informing university instructors in order to fill out the space between those two variables is inevitable which should be resolved by literature instructors.
