The purpose of the present study was to identify the socio-cultural factors affecting the orientation of the Young Researchersʹ Club (YRC) members toward conducting research and to present a theoretical pattern for it. The sample was all the YRC members of the Islamic Azad University Branches in district 12. SPSS and LISREL softwares were applied to analyze the collected data form a questionnaire. The findings of the study suggest the formation of a linear pattern between dependent and independent variables. In other words, there is a significant relationship between cultural factors (i.e. status of the researcher, type of the YRC membersʹ activities, the physical place of these activities, universitiesʹ research facilities, and the timely acceptance of the research projects) and social factors (i.e. education and income level of the club members, social status of the membersʹ families, and research management of the club) with the membersʹ orientation toward conducting research activities (i.e. writing research papers, authoring or translating books, participating in conferences, doing research projects, studying extracurricular books, and assistance in conducting research).
