Implementing of Value Stream Management (VSM) to Improve Production Planning System in Auto Manufacturing

Currently, automotive manufacturers try to reduce their overall cost while improving customer response time through implementation of just- in-time manufacturing techniques. But, a number of these companies are unable to realize the full benefits of their efforts because of non-value added activities associated with any replenishment system. In this paper value stream management (VSM) process is introduced as a new manufacturing method for improving production planning and inventory control. In VSM technique, the steps of commit to lean, choose the value stream, map the current state, determine metrics, map the future state, create kaizen plans and implement kaizen are taken into account in the accomplish. The above method is executed in the case of Samand bodyʹs assemble line and the results are evaluated by the Vensim simulation software.
