Impact of Cultural Diplomacy on National Interests of Countries

Out of various forms of modern diplomacy, including public, media, and educational diplomacy, cultural diplomacy is of special significance. Cultural diplomacy allows countries to directly contact ordinary people and leaders of public opinion by employing influential elements of their cultures. Influencing foreign masses and banking on their opinions at international level is a means of putting pressure on their governments. The main question of this research is why governments publish their cultural information and values to international community and why they believe that this will help them protect their national interests? The present paper will first discuss status of cultural diplomacy among various forms of modern diplomacy before focusing on management of cultural diplomacy by various countries which seek to meet their national interests.
