The Evaluation of Spatio-temporal Suitability of Urban Parks Using GIS (A Case Study of Area No. 2 Neighborhood Parks of Tabriz Municipality)

Green spaces in urban areas, especially in big industrial cities entail different implications. The green space from one side improves the environment of the cities and on the other hand it creates proper conditions for the recreation times of the citizens. The importance of green urban spaces is so much that today the existence of this landuse is regarded as one of the indicators of development of the society. In this research using the existing GIS methods such as temporal analyses, network, adjacency, overlaying and also utilizing the physical indicators like the adjustability, access, gradient, area, neighborhood, and social indicators such as population density, family amassing and dimension, we have paid attention to the spatio-temporal analysis of regional parks in No. 2 area of Tabriz Municipality. The aim was to study the quality of their distribution (both in terms of physical and social characteristics) at present conditions; the degree of appropriateness of each park was to be specified. Results indicated that 36.4% of the neighborhood parks of the area under study were fully adjustable with their nearby landuses and also the study of the suitability of the neighborhood parks of this area showed that 64.6% of parks located in the No. 2 area of Tabriz have higher spatio-temporal suitability and 27.3% of parks have average appropriateness and only 9.1% of the parks have lowers suitability.
