Higher education in Iran: The Impact of ICT on Open and distance education (The Case of Iran)

Globalization and its influence on higher education system of Iran is the main focus of this study. The role of electronic facilities and worldwide networks 011 education is considered. Imbalance in opportunities, increasing demand for entrance to higher education and shortcomings of Iranian educational system for admission, insufficiency of educational facilities for teaching and learning at the national scale, disability of our current educational system in training citizens that can act effectively in a global society are discussed. The notions from the literarure review as well the the anaylsis of educators resposes to questionnaire in Payam Noor Univdrsity indicated that modern educational systems like virtual university and open & distance educational systems ,if adequately used , can help solve current problems in higher education of Iran.
