Evolution of joints in sediments of the Shemshak Group (Tezereh coalmine)

The most important system of the existing joints has evolved in layer intersection. The controlling factor of this system of joints is the burial depth, pressure stress, and the fracture length. Wherever the growth of fractures accompanied fluid injection, pressurized fluids scattered in strata and caused the layer surfaces to open. In the process of fluid injection, besides the change in the quality of coal strata, step-over fractures have developed in the strata. A group of joints in Tezereh coalmine is geometrically and kinematically connected with faults. This type of joints may have formed before, at the same time or after faulting. This system of joints has maintained a part of the stress history of the area.
