Elements of National Identity in Contemporary Poem (Case study of Shafiee Kadkanis Poem)

• In this era that globalization invites humans toward accretion and unification as well as global citizenship, necessity of attention to national identity and itʹs base has been cleared. Iranian identity has resources and feedback that one of them is Farsi language and literature. In Iran honorific history, it is always preserved identity and solidarity by Farsi language. Contemporary poets have enjoyed from Farsi poems as a means for protecting and preserving national identity. One of the problem that contemporary poets have attended to it in order to reinforce national identity is to use Iranʹs common ethnic, cultural and historic elements. In this regard, it has noted acknowledgement and celebration from ethnic and national myths and emphasis on important cultural indexes Among poets who attend to national identity are Mohammad-Reza Shafiee Kodkani; he has used Archaism-that is an eminent way of language- to achieve national identity. In Shafieeʹs poems has been more attention to mythic symbols and personalities, ancient customs, past history and culture and old Iranʹs geography that are accounted culture elements and national identity. Additionally, it is noted to academic and theosophic personalities of past Farsi that this case shows his particular attention to this dimension of our national identity. Thus, function and operation of archaism for contemporary poets can be considered as an event for national identity.
