The Rhetorical Use of "Mirror" in Saʹeb Tabrizi fs Divan

Saʹeb Tabrizi is one of the greatest poets of the Indian Style who has left more than one hundred thousand distiches behind. One of the characteristics of the Indian Style is theme- development via poetic images. The followers of this style consider novel modes of expression the only way to get rid of repetition and banality, and somehow detach themselves from the dominance of great poetic experiences preceding them. In the similes used in this era, the poet seeks to create new meaning horizons and develop original imageries. Hence, each theme, looked upon from different perspectives, is a ground for creating new experiences for him. Here, Saʹeb is a unique poet who has created hundreds of different themes out of a single subject. One of these motives is "mirror" which has created themes, sometimes peculiar, via different vehicles in the poetʹs imagination.
