CT Scan Finding in CVA Pateints

Stroke is the most common cause of mortality and morbidity among the neurological disorder. Multiple factors increase risk of stroke. Some of them modifiable (e.g. DM, HIN and Smoking) and some of them are not (e.g. sex, age and race). Early diagnosis of stroke is very helpful in prevention of serious complications of CVA and CT Scan Imaging is a very helpful diagnostic tools.We decided to evaluate CT scan finding in CVA patients and relation of these findings with related risk factors.It is a descriptive and cross sectional study which done during 2 years on 100 patients in shahrivar 17th hospital of mashad. Patients divided in two groups (ischemic and hemor¬rhagic) on the basis of CT scan and clinical findings. Also we compared prevalence of risk factors in cases.CT scan findings showed that brain infarction in 49 cases, atrophy in 42 cases and brain calcification in 41 cases were more common findings. Internal capsule was the most common site of hemorrhage (39.15%). The most common site of infarction was tem¬poral lobe (26.5%). prevalence of hypertension in CVA patients with infarction finding significantly were higher than CVA patients without infarction finding (P=0.Oil) Also prevalence of hypertension in group with CT scan findings of Hemorrhage significantly was higher than in group without CT scan findings of Hemorrhage (p=0.03 l).Stroke in Female group significantly more higher than male group and the commonest age was 70-79.CT scan is one of the useful Imaging tools in Diagnosis, evaluation of complication and outcome of CVA patients.
