Survey on husband killing phenomenon

Nowadays, Iranian household has been subject to significant developments; and in terms of scientific terminology it is in transient period. In this period, some of the values have traditional and classical characteristics and some others are modern, so that the issue leads to family disagreements. On the other hand, compared with the past, women enjoy more freedom which leads to outbreak of some disagreements between wives and husbands. The disagreement is one of its most salient aspects of husband killing phenomenon-women killing their husbands. The present research aims at surveying the factors effective in the phenomenon. Husband killing is a sort of family violence which leads to men getting killed. In this type of murder, women either kill their husbands or contribute to the murder. The research utilizes various sociological approaches such as feministic theories, social learning, conflict, social disorder, social surveillance and strangeness theory. Based on these theories, the most important independent variables which directly impact husband killing phenomenon are: men s unbounded violence against women, experiencing violence on the part of women in their childhood, patriarchy, conflict between the couple, modern lifestyle, etc. The research method utilized is qualitative. N includes women who are imprisoned at ewin prison because of being accused of either killing their husbands or contributing to their murder. The required data has been gathered through qualitative interviews. The result of the research indicates that women s modern lifestyle, not loving the husband and tendency toward variety are the most important variables affecting hus-band killing phenomenon. The second important variable is husband s ethical corruption which is of high importance.
