Survey on Youths Social Vulnerability:Effective Factors in Ghaem-shahr

Due to its social characteristics, youth phenomenon is considered to be one of the critical issues for social and urban development. With respect to the young population growth, the youth issue is one of the important issues in our country which requires especial attention of experts, researchers and those in charge. The research aims at examining social vulnerability on the part of the youth in Ghaemshahr and the factors impacting it. In this research a few theories have been utilized for benchmarking and making hypotheses: lack of self-recognition (Melvin Simon) in psychological approach, distinguish opportunity theory (Edwin Sutherland, social control theory (Walter Reckless) and (Travis Hershi) in social psychological approach, social disorder theory (Robert Kay Merton) and Anomy theory (Durkim) in the sociological approach. The research analytical model was presented based on the above-mentioned theories. The research dealt with 250 teenager students in Ghaemshahr (15-19). The results indicate that mean for social vulnerability of girls is higher than that of boy students. In addition, the negative effect of social control variables and social-economic base; and the positive impact of economic and social disaffection over social vulnerability were confirmed. However, no significant relationship was observed between delinquents and social vulnerability.
