Role of«Social Capital» in «Community oriented Policing»

«Community - oriented Policing» is a new - emerging concept in disciplinary knowledge literature. The concept is the result of growing inefficiency of the police organization and traditional structure in encountering the weird developments of the modern world. The present article examines the concept of «society» as a sociological element in community - oriented policing then describes its essence. Afterwards, through explaining the concept of «social capital» the relationship between the concept and community - requirements of the conversion of traditional police at the beginning of community - orientation is acquiring public trust. The concluding part of the article is allocated to «social trust» which is one of the constituents of social capital. Finally, recommendations are offered to improve the level of social capital and to facilitate community - orientation policing process based on the offered reflections.
