A Survey of Sassanid Musical Instruments Based on ʹKhosrow Ghobadan and Redagʹ Pahlavi Text

Among Pahlavi texts remained from Sassanid Era, the text ʹKhosrow Ghobadan andʹ Redagʹ discusses different cultural elements. Worth mentioning is the section on musical instruments. Many of the terms for these instruments have not either been deciphered or if read, there have been many doubts about them. Thus, many musical instruments have been thought to have no prior history or mistakenly thought to originate from other lands. The authors try to list the nomenclature of these musical instruments along with well-founded proofs.
