Crime Prevention through Environmental Design

In case crimes and social deviations are considered to be the most important phenomena of the current century; and whereas these phenomena are liquid and diverse elements which are strongly under the impact of geographical, social and humane environment, the society should inevitably take into consideration various approaches to control them. Studies associated with crime prevention based on crime control through adopting penal and non-penal policies indicate that it is not logical to focus on one approach and disregard the others. One of the prominent approaches in the crime prevention arena is «preventing crimes through environmental designings Preventing crimes through environmental design seeks to reduce crime rates; and consider security within these plans through controlling programs which pay attention to lands application and special design of the environment. Theorists active in this field, pay special attention to the crime commission venue conditions; and deals with establishing relationship between venue and crime. In every preventive approach three aspects must be simultaneously considered in order to enable us to reach our goals through plans i.e. criminal correction and ultimately society correction. These three aspects are «type of crime», «surrounding social-physical environment)) and «crime prevention through environmental design)).
