Community- Oriented Police, Security and Social Capital

Social trust and security are among the constituents of social capital. Trust is one of the indices of social capital In case individuals and communities trust each other; the relationship between family members, friends, neighbors and colleagues; and members of the society would be more effective. On the contrary, lack of trust is always associated with behaviors like violence, crime and so on. The present article aims at examining the relationship between security and major constituents of social capital Hence, first, the definitions and concepts of social capital and its origin, based on theoreticians view, are dealt with. Next, social trust, as one of its constituents, is referred to. Afterwards, police measures in line with the issue have been raised; and finally the article deals with the role of citizens contribution in security establishment.
