Why Did Iranian Revolution Become Islamic?

In an age when the adherents of separation of religion and politics claimed to be intellectually superior, a revolution emerged in Iran whose main motive was religious thought and whose goal was establishing a government based on this thought. Studying this demotic approach made thinkers faced with the following essential question: "Were there no other political parties, institutions, and groups opposing to royal regime?" Thus, the writer has tried to investigate the role of three pillars of revolution, i.e. people, ideology and leadership; this is because the role of other parties was weaker in these three pillars. The results showed that Islam had a considerable effect on the above factors. This, from 1340 onward, made other political groups and parties marginalized and a religious movement formed.
