Long history of petroleum industry in Iran and its dynamism, particularly during the 30-year period after the Islamic revolution which has made concerns full of knowledge, experience and innovation, as weil as its has maintenance and dissemination of this noteworthy treasure is valuable and indelible. One of the issues which has made concerns concerns for the petroleum industry is the subject of supplanting and outgoing of managers and experts of petroleum industry and loss of their experience and knowledge. In one hand with respect to the conditions for survival and function of complex global organizations, taking Lessons form the past mistakes is essential for success. Therefore by documentation of experience, knowledge and organizational learning opportunity is provided and utilizing the petroleum industry-related experience, organizational performance will increase.In order to collection, documentation, distribution and effective use of organizational experiences of the petroleum industry in the minds of managers and experts, or scattered experiences, appropriate system models are necessary. For this purpose, the domestic model for documentation experiences of experts of the petroleum industry using a quantitative and surveying method and an applicable approach, is presented in this paper. To confirm validity, the experimental model for documentation experiences of 45 senior managers of the petroleum industry have been ran by IIES and using the results and achievements, necessary adjustments have been applied to the model.
Finally this model have five main stages as the following: 1. recognition step, 2. stage training step, 3. acquisition of knowledge Step, 4. Knowledge stage, and 5. Design of electronic bank of knowledge and knowledge packaging stage. To perform and complete the project in all petroleum industry sectors can creak a knowledge treasure for Iran, and petroleum industry as the leading domestic industry in knowledge management, can be a good model for other organizations of the country.
