The French Security Issues and Preparations

Due to the important place and role of France in Europe, its strategies and policies are watched by other countries. A study of the French government behavior after the 9/11 incident indicates some changes in its approach and behavior. After a period of hesitation and disability in decision-making, the French government finally opted for accompanying the US without necessarily doing so under duress. Therefore, France is supposed to define its security strategy in a way that leads to the maximum possible independence and active role. Presence of France in Lebanon, Afghanistan and Iraq requires security vigilance for the government to prevent occurrence of atrocities like massacre of the French soldiers in Afghanistan. French new security strategies are reconsidered and planned in the 2008 white book, which is the main topic to tackle in this paper.
