Anti mycobacterium ethno pharmacological survey of medicinal plants used in traditional treatment of Tuberculosis and respiratory infection in north of Iran

This survey was undertaken in north of Iran, Golestan province in order to inventory the main medicinal plants used in folk medicine to treat chronic respiratory disease and Tuberculosis. The inventory of medicinal plants is summarized, which contains the scientific and locally name of endemic or cultivate medicinal plants, ecological distribution, plants parts, the preparation and used or therapeutic indication. Extensive investigations have brought to 52 medicinal plants belonging to 30 families, these plants grow in wild and wide distribution in these region. The most frequently used plants to treat these diseases, include cold, cough, bronchitis, flue, bone and back pain, antiseptic, anti inflammation and rheumatic pain.
