بررسي مفاهيم و شاخص‌هاي نظريه شهر جهاني

بررسي تاثيرات جهاني‌شدن بر شهرها و پاسخ‌ شهرها به فشارهاي ناشي از جهاني‌شدن، موضوع مطالعات گوناگوني در طول حداقل چهار دهه اخير بوده است. شهرها در طول اين دهه‌ها به دليل اهميت اجتماعي و اقتصادي، روابط پيچيده‌اي با جهاني‌شدن داشته‌اند. مطالعات درباره اين روابط در حال شكل‌دادن به يك چارچوب نظري جديد در مطالعات شهري است كه نظريه شهر جهاني خوانده مي‌شود. در مطالعات شهري، اين نظريه جديد با پرسش‌هايي در رابطه با تاثيرات جهاني‌شدن بر شهرها و نحوه پاسخگويي شهرها به جهاني‌شدن آغاز مي‌شود و با تدوين فرآيندهايي راهنما براي هدايت شهرها به سمت جهاني‌شدن پايان مي‌يابد. نظريه شهر جهاني دربرگيرنده محورهاي مطالعاتي ديگري، نظير شناخت تاثيرات جهاني‌شدن در رابطه با ماهيت جديد شهرهاي معاصر، تعيين معيارهايي براي شناخت شهرهاي جهاني، بررسي خصوصيات اين شهرها، رتبه‌بندي شهرهاي جهاني و بررسي روابط بين شهرها و شبكه‌هاي شهري جهاني است.

Numerous studies have been conducted over the past four decades about the effects of globalization on cities and the way cities have been responding to pressures imposed upon them by globalization. Over the decades, cities have developed a complex relationship with globalization in light of their social and economic significance. Further research into this relationship has led to the introduction of a new concept in urban studies known as the global city theory. This theory embodies discussions on the effects of globalization on cities and the way cities have been responding to the changes brought about by this phenomenon. It also includes a series of guidelines to help cities become part of the globalization process. In addition, the global city theory studies the effects of globalization on the new identity of contemporary cities, outlines a new set of criteria to distinguish global cities, defines the characteristics of such cities, develops a ranking system for them and studies the relationship between cities and global city networks.
