"Modelor", A Software Tool for Modeling Tabular Deposits

Resource modeling is usually performed using 2D or 3D techniques for tabular or massive ore bodies, respectively. Nowadays, commercial software tools are available worldwide to assist mining engineers to model ore bodies and plan and design mines. In Iran, there is no computer packages, yet, for resource modeling and mine planning. This paper introduces "Modelor" as one of the first steps towards developing Iranian comprehensive mining software tools. Modelorʹs capabilities include: 1. construction of 2D models, 2. displaying models (in 2D contours and 3D surfaces), 3. volume calculation of layers and 4. displaying profiles of the model in any direction. Modelor employs inverse distance estimation technique and trapezoidal method for volume calculation.
