Kinrtics Mechanism of Oxidation of Ethanol by Tetamethyl - Ammonium Fluorochromate

T.he oxidation of ethanol by tetramethylammonium f1uorochromate in acidic solution was. studied using spectrophotometric technique . The reaction was arranged to be under pseudofirst-order conditions respect to the oxidant. A Michaelis-Menten type kinetic was observedrespect to the substr ate. The reaction is catalyzed by hydro gen ions. Dependences of the reactionrates on temperature and different solvents have been studied. The solvent effect was analyzedusing Kamler-Taft ʹs and Swain ʹs multiparametric equations. Finally, a mechanism consi stent withthe observed results has been propo sed
