The UV-vis spectrophotometric analysis of liquid detergents containing coconut fatty acid dil ethanol amid (as a nonionic surfactant) and cocamidopropylbetaine (as an amphoteric surfactant) basedon multivariate calibration methods such as partial least square regression (PLS) and principal componentregression (PCR) was described. The PLS and PCR methods used to resolve highly overlappingspectrophotometric signals obtained from coconut fatty acid diethanol amid and cocamidopropylbetainein detergents solution. The concentration range for coconut fatty acid diethanol amid andcocamidopropylbetaine were varied between 0.00 I-0.03 mg land 0.003-0.08 mg [ I Inputs ofmodel were taken from absorbance spectral data which recorded in wavelength region 1900-500nm. For achieving the best model , parameters of the models were evaluated. The relative errors ineach step were calculated. Both models were compared and their predictive performance wasinferred by a successful application. It has been shown that the propused method is highly accurate. The results for coconut fatty acid diethanol amid and cocamidopropylbetaine were satisfactory. The error obtained in the PLS method was slightly better. The errors are less than 0.4% forcocamidopropylbetaine and 1% for coconut fatty acid diethanol amid in PLS method, respectively
