Review on Formation and Operation of Persian Gulf Countries Cooperation Council

For regional security achievement in sixtysʹs and seventyʹs decad has been completed a vast efforts by six countries based in south and west of persian Gulf, particularly Kuwait, but it was not more effective. After victory of Iran Islamic revolutionary and Afghanistan occupancy by the soviet union and beginnig Iraqi war against Iran, the forming of council positioned on west countries agenda, and the countries such as saaudi Arabia/ Kuwait Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and united Arab emmirates, under the U.S.A. Protection and direction, and mauger with the marginal difference and tentorial claims, they formed a regional treaty as the persian Gulf countries cooperation council (PGCC) for providing common necessities. the general goals of this council is mutual cooperation and protections for members against internal unrests/ external threats, economical field, social and cultural rules, foriegn policy, deffense policy and providing stability in persian gulf. The council, has hold towenty sessions for countries members as yet. Apparently, it has made some decissions about security cooperation and economic cooperation and self confidence support against threats for the members, neverthless, the real goals of the council formation has been created a coordination between countries members for following the unity position in west policies support in the region against Iran in Iran Iraqi war and Arabs - Israel peace process. The persian gulf countries cooperation council during the 8 year Iraqi war against Iran has always protected Iraq, and as following the west policies has protected arabs Israel peace process since itʹs formation till now. The persian Culf countries cooperation council is indeed a sophisticated union that it has engendered with west objectives and it has not could don a positive proceeds in territorial quarrel and marginal claims between members as yet. while Kuwait was attacted in 1990 Agust 2 the council condmned Iraq by the statement and request Iraq to take back her forces. The heads of council subscribed many subjects in political regional and internal of countries members in thier sessions, but no any sanctions be performed. Generally the council is the union that it has predisposed west political influence in the region and foriegn military forces presence in the persian gulf.
