U.S. policy in the Caspian sea region, is in regard to American interests in the Caspian sea littoral states, considered to be very important. America and her western allies, in the hasty action in the post soviet desintegiation era and the emergence of to prevent the spreading of what she calls as the influence of Iran and Islamic fundamentalism in the regionʹs states, backed up Turkey in every aspect to expand her influence in those states by participating in their economic plans, intreasing trade, television broadcasting and on the whole, developing secularism by emphasizing panturkism and common turkish heritage. During the application of this policy by the west, the propaganda was, as if, there is a close competition between 10 Iran and Turkey on influencing the Centrat Asian states andcaucasia, while in reality, Iran not only did not consider Turkey as a rival in those fields, but emphasized on cooperation with that country through Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to help Central Asia states and the Republic of Azerbaijan, develop.
The article intends to study and examine the United Stateʹs policies in the region, in regard to her long range interests, and suggest appropriate courses of action to present strategies in accordance with U.S. interests and other states, for Iran.
The article thus is divided into four parts as follows:
1. The background of the U.S. presence in Caspian Sea region.
2. The U.S. intentions in the region.
3. The U.S. policy in the region.
4. Cunclusion and necessity to present appropriate strategies by the I.R.I, in the relation to U.S. policies in Caspian Sea region.
