چكيده لاتين :
This Paper analyzes psychological drives behind the Israeli intrusion into the southern Lebanon in the summer of 2006, and maintains that factors such as frustrations over the Israelʹs domestic and foreign issues were main for its leaders to miscalculate their own capabilities, in one hand, and Hezbollah and the worldʹs public opinion, in the other, decide rashly to invade Lebanon. In domestic front, Israeli officials were meddling with the divisions in the Likud Party, and the emergence of the Kadima Party, Ariel Sharon mental breakdown, his sad and sudden departure from the political scene, and subsequent power struggle in the country. In the foreign front, Israeli leaders were frustrated by such developments as intensification of Palestinian rocket attacks against Israeli border towns after the Gaza withdrawal in 2005 and increased influence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the region especially among Palestinians and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Hamas and Hezbollahʹs kidnappings of Israeli soldiers in the summer of 2006 were only the last sparks that explode the power keg of the Israeli and Hezbollah relations. By entering into an "aggression" against Lebanon, Israeli officials, in fact, tried to "repress", "project" and "displace" their "frustration" over domestic and foreign affairs.
