Childrenʹs entrance to school is considered a great change in social life. The reason is that the limited environment with family in its core turns to be an extensive world which requires them to gain sophisticated skills and capabilities. The main purpose behind this research is to study parentsʹ education level, pre-school courses, sex, mothersʹ employment, childrenʹs order of birth, parentsʹ age, parentsʹ kinship, bilingualism, neighborhood, and the familyʹs economic, social and cultural conditions and their influence on childrenʹs level of preparation to start formal education. Data were collected applying causal-comparative method and administering Millerʹs Scale for Preparation Level Evaluation. There were 500 students 6 to 7 years selected from different provinces in Iran. Data analysis indicated that pre-school courses, bilingualism, neighborhood, motherʹs employment, and parentsʹ education level have significant effect on childrenʹs preparation to start school. Factors like parentsʹ kinship, childrenʹs order of birth, and familyʹs conditions did not show any meaningful effect.
