In order to study genetic potential in durum wheat by some morphological traitʹs and also determine of the best genotype an experiment was conducted in simple lattice design with 64 genotypes (58 exogenous and 6 indigenous genotypes). This experiment was designed with two replicate in Tabriz Islamic Azad Universityʹs research station, in 15 km far from Tabriz in 2002-2003. Analysis of variance for every year and combined analysis of data for two years were computed and also means general heritability were tested. Results from combined analysis of data showed a high significant difference all genotypes for all traits, which mean there is genetic diversity. Results also showed a rich genetic germplasm in durum wheat. Interaction effect of genotype and year for some traits such as flag leaf area, plant height, peduncle length, number of fertile tillers, were significant but for other characters were not significant. Therefore yield of genotypes for four traits above in two years were significant but interaction effects of genotype and year was the same .Comparison of means showed that the genotypes number 62, 33, 55 and 64 had highest seed yield which genotypes numbers 62 and 64 were native while numbers 33 and 55 were imported. Although there was no significant difference between four genotypes above but that showed yields potential of native genotypes. Obtaining of heritability showed that general heritability of traits such as number of seedling time, heading time and internodes length, spike length, plant height, number of kernel in spike and 1000 grain weight were higher than other characters. General heritability of grain yield, biomass, harvest index, fertile tiller and leaf area was moderate. General heritability among all genotype was near to expectation because experiment continued for two years and interaction effects of genotype and year was separated while interaction effect of genotype and location was confounded.
