An investigation in to the relationship between personality characteristics and interpersonal conflict solving styles with marital adjustment of the married students at Tabriz Islamic Azad University

The present study aimed at investigating the relationship between personality and interpersonal problem solving styles with the marital adjustment of the married students at Tabriz Islamic Azad University .The statistical population included all married students at Tabriz branch. Using stratified random sampling 325 people as sample size were selected. The data for the study were collected through researcher made a demographic questionnaire; the Neo-Five-Factor inventory (NEO-FFI), Lack Wallace Marital Adjustment (LWMAT) questionnaire, and Rahim Organizational Conflict Inventory 2 (ROCI-2) were also used. Data analyzed through Pearson Correlation Coefficient, and Multi-Variant Regression. The SPSS software was run for the analysis of the data. The results showed that there was a negative correlation between neuroticism and marital adjustment while there appeared a positive correlation between other personality characteristics i.e. (agreeableness, extroversion, openness) and marital adjustment. The predictive validity of the three personality characteristics, consciousness, agreeableness, and neuroticism, respectively, had the power of determination of marital adjustment.
