Managers use different styles for influencing employees and their participation for the purpose of attaining organizational goals. Since managerial styles is one the effective factors in creation, motivation, job satisfaction and organizational efficiency, their identification is of great importance. Based on this fundamental theory, a research has been done aiming determination and comparison of present managerial styles and expected managerial styles of hospitals nursing employees located in west of Mazandaran province, emphasizing Macgregor theory of managerial styles of X and Y. The present article is extract of this research.
This research was made through descriptive survey method, and 178 nurses from Ramsar,and Tonekabon hospitals were random selected for responding to Chapman Standardized questionnaire aiming to survey the present and expected styles comparison. Since the mentioned tool was translated to Farsi, its reliability and validity was confirmed by pilot test and experts views. The style was specified by present measure of questionnaire, and K2 test was used for relation studies of some personal and managerial style factors. The finding shows the samples of research believe present managerial style is based on X theory and their expected one is Y. Since suitable employees expected managerial style is necessary for effective management, it seems changes in present style and creating participative surrounding based on Y theory can cause more effectiveness.
