چكيده لاتين :
Identification of substances and factors which can prevent destructive role of free radicals and their resulted mutation on the cellular structure plays very important role in keeping people healthy and away from carcinogenesis. Barberry plant (Berberis integrrima Bunge) contains secondary metabolites such as Berberin, Ascorbic acid, Malice acid, Axiecantin, and so forth which has medical properties such as cholesterol reduction, anti malaria, anti inflammation, and anti tumor. The main goal of this research was to investigate the antioxidant and anticancer effects of barberry (Berberis integrrima Bunge) liquid extract. In this study, we took the advantage of the liquid extract of leaf, flower, and fruit of barberry and performed the determination test of anti mutagen potential based on proposed method of Professor Ames et al. using mutant strain of Salmonella Typhimurium TA100 and a well-known carcinogenic material (Sodium Azid). Also by adding microsome of rat liver (S9) the anticancer effect of extracts was proved. In each test, a positive and a negative control containing sodium azid and distilled water, respectively were studied. Each test was simultaneously done for three times and the percentage of inhibitory was determined according to (1-T/M) x 100. The inhibitory percentage in its highest level in fruit extract was equal to 99.10 % and in leaf extract has its lowest percentage equal to 70.05 %. Results of this research show that the barberry plant (Berberis integrrima Bunge) possesses powerful antioxidant and anticancer properties, and also we found that the amount of materials having these properties increase along with the development of Berberis integrrima Bunge.
